Egyptian Columnist in Support of Ban on Al-Rahma Channel: Al-Rahma Does Not Conduct Da'wa, but Rather Incites the Masses Against Non-Muslims

In March 2010, the Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA), the French broadcasting regulator, instructed Eutelsat, which owns the Atlantic Bird A4 satellite, to stop broadcasting the Islamist Egyptian Al-Rahma TV channel because of the virulently antisemitic content it frequently airs. The decision was based entirely on research provided by MEMRI TV, which revealed that the channel regularly portrays Jews as the Muslims' worst enemies, describes them as apes, pigs, and vipers and calls to annihilate them.

Article in Egyptian Weekly: 'Wahhabi Ideas Oppose Art, Literature, Science, Beauty, Women, Minorities, Life Itself...'

In an op-ed titled "J'accuse!" in the June 3-9, 2010 edition of the Al-Ahram Weekly, Galal Amer mounted attack on Wahhabism, writing that the "Wahhabi Campaign" is "powered by formidable dinars" and "trying to superimpose a bleak topography of drought on a society that lives by the river." He says that currently in Egypt, "[f]rom a hundred thousand pulpits, calls issue for violence and for the combat of America and Israel" and that as a result "colleague turns against colleague, neighbor against neighbor..." He adds that "Wahhabi ideas oppose art, literature, science, beauty, women, minorities, life itself."
