Saudi Advisory Committee Member: Over 500 People with Extremist Views Have Recanted

Dr. Muhammad Al-Najimi, director of the civil studies institute at King Fahd Security College and a member of a Saudi Interior Ministry advisory committee that dialogues with extremists and persuades them to recant their views, told the Saudi daily Al-Madina yesterday that over 500 people with extremist thoughts had been released from custody after passing an advisory committee examination to determine that they no longer hold such views.

He added that nine of those released had not recanted, and were rearrested.
