Int'l Council of Muslim Clerics: Iran Must Apologize To Al-Qaradhawi
The International Council of Muslim Clerics has demanded that Tehran apologize to council head Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, and that it act against the Iranian news agency Mehr that published articles condemning Al-Qaradhawi in response to his statements against the spread of the Shi'a.
The concluding statement of a council conference in Doha stated that in countries where one school of jurisprudence prevailed, there should be no propaganda for another school of jurisprudence, so as to preserve national unity.
Mehr had already announced that it had fired the journalist, Hassan Hanizadeh, who had condemned Al-Qaradhawi, claiming that the publication of the article that harmed Islamic unity was not approved by the agency.
