The Arab summit ended today with Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa's reading of a final statement.
According to MEMRI’s senior analyst, the statement was full of platitudes, and dealt with the need to deepen the Arab identity and increase the number of translations of books from and into Arabic language. The statement includes a vague reference to the peace initiative for Palestine, but nothing was said about other burning issues, such as Lebanon, Iraq, Somalia, and Sudan/Darfur.
Moussa also said that the summit has decided to hold its next meeting in Damascus, Syria
