Speaking for a European parliamentary delegation that visited Turkey, European parliamentarian Bernard Jean Marie warned of the “negative impression” given by the deteriorating situation of the Kurds in Turkey. He said their “poor situation in Turkey raises questions regarding Turkey’s commitment to the principles of Copenhagen which determine the conditions that Turkey should meet before joining the unified European entity.”
