The multinational forces in the Babil district, south of Baghdad, yesterday transferred security authority for the region to Iraqi forces.
The transfer brings to 12 the number of districts under Iraqi security forces, of a total of 18 districts.
Iraqi national security advisor Muwaffaq Al-Rubaie said that Iraqi security forces were ready to accept security authority for all districts where multinational forces were still deployed.
