Syrian, Lebanese Ministers Decide To Establish Joint Security Coordination Committee

At a Damascus meeting yesterday with Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji Al-'Otri, Syrian Interior Minister Bassam Abd Al-Majid, and Lebanese Interior Minister Ziyad Baroud, it was decided to establish a committee to handle the consolidation of a joint border oversight apparatus, to prepare a memorandum of understanding for Syria-Lebanon security cooperation and coordination, and to lay the foundations for cooperation and coordination against terrorism and crime.

Baroud said at a press conference that the Lebanese court had begun to take steps following the airing of testimony by the perpetrators of the Damascus car bombing. He added that the Lebanese authorities would fulfill their obligation in the matter.
