At an Arab information and media conference in Damascus, Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal and Iraqi Communications Minister Farouq Abd Al-Qadr clashed on the issue of the Iraq-U.S. security agreement.
Bilal expressed apprehensions that the agreement would permit the U.S. to attack Iraq's neighbors, and stressed that the Iraqi people would not accept it.
In response, Al-Qadr accused Syria of meddling in Iraq's internal affairs.
