In UAE, Sanctions Against Newspaper Follow Slander Lawsuit

The Abu Dhabi appeals court has ordered the Emirates Today newspaper shut down for 10 days, following a libel lawsuit filed against it by racing stable owners.

An article published in the paper in October 2008 stated that the stables' racehorses were given amphetamines.

The paper was given a 24-hour extension to appeal.
