A spokesman for the Iraqi Interior Ministry, which is in charge of the national police and internal security, welcomed president-elect Obama’s decision to keep Robert Gates as secretary of defense, calling the decision "wise and sound."
He said that Secretary Gates has an understanding of the efforts to rebuild Iraqi security forces.
