Iraqi government spokesman Ali Al-Dabbagh has unofficially called, during a lecture he gave in Washington, for the establishment of a regional political body in the Persian Gulf similar to the EU.
The body would be for economic and security cooperation, and for resolving disputes and clashes among the states in the region.
Al-Dabbagh proposed that the body include Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with the option of expanding it to include the rest of the GCC countries.
