Iraqi Parliament Speaker Resigns

Iraqi parliamentary speaker Mahmound Al-Mashhadani yesterday submitted his resignation, under pressure of many members of the house.

His resignation was accepted by an overwhelming majority of parliament

[Al-Mashhadani had made a name for himself because of his bad temper and bad manners.

For example, during a heated debate in the house two days ago he called MP Mithal Al-Alousi, one of the most liberal voices in Iraq, a “son of a bitch (kalb ibn kalb)].”
