During Iranian Defense Minister Mustafa Mohammad Najjar's visit to Moscow, the Russians offered Iran a deal to upgrade their weapons and equipment.
The deal would include MiG 29 SMT planes, S 300 defense system, and a naval platform.
The Iranians are demanding advanced military technology and cooperation in producing these weapons systems.
It was reported that Russia is delaying its response to these demands, and that it intends to export to Iran in 2009 weapons and equipment worth $8.5 billion.
