In an interview with Russian TV, Iranian Defense Minister Mustafa Mohammad Najjar said that Iran was a regional superpower power that could not be defeated.
He said that the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan, and NATO's trend towards spreading eastward, were a challenge for Iran.
He added that the U.S. plan to deploy antimissile defense systems was a threat to Russia, not Iran.
