The Taliban have handed over the remains of a Polish engineer to a tribal Jirga, or council of elders, in Pakistan’s tribal district of North Waziristan, a hotspot of militants bordering Afghanistan, according to a Pashtu daily.
Militants abducted Peter Stanczak in Attock district of Pakistan’s Punjab province on September 28, 2008.
According to a report in the Pashtu-language newspaper Wrazpanra Khabroona, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, a terrorist organization led by Baitullah Mehsud, executed Stanczak in February this year and released his video after the Pakistani government refused to release Taliban prisoners in exchange for him.
