Syrian parliamentary foreign liaison chief Suleiman Hadad welcomed the U.S.'s decision to return its ambassador to Damascus, but stated that the move could be meaningless if it is not accompanied by essential change in the U.S.'s Middle East policy.
He said that Syria was willing to renew indirect negotiations with Israel with Turkish mediation, to become direct negotiations if Israel withdrew to the June 4, 1967 border.
He estimated that the U.S. could be a decisive position in these negotiations.
