The Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, which is close to Hizbullah and to Syria, reports that the talks between Syria and Saudi Arabia for reaching a settlement in Lebanon have failed.
According to the daily, they failed over three Saudi demands: the demand to begin the delineation of the Syria-Lebanese border with the Shab'a Farms area; to confine the campaign for the farms' liberation to the diplomatic front; and to dissolve the Council for Syrian-Lebanese Relations.
The paper also reports the failure of the June 26, 2009 meeting between Sa'd Al-Hariri and Hassan Nasrallah, which dealt with the makeup of the new Lebanese government and the opposition's share in it.
