Syrian military intelligence chief Assef Shawkat, who is the brother-in-law of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, has completed his term of office and has received a promotion in rank.
He will be replaced by Gen. Abd Al-Fatah Qudsiya, who until now has headed aerial intelligence.
The move came in a round of changes in key roles in Syrian intelligence.
