In a speech marking the anniversary of the founder of the Islamic revolutionary regime Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, "Thanks to the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples, the countdown to the destruction of Israel has begun, and we will soon witness the destruction of the Zionist regime."
In another speech, Ahmadinejad said, "We very much hope that in the future we will move together, alongside the Iraqi people, towards Jerusalem. This is the hope of all peoples, and it will come to pass."
