Iraq's Green Zone Free of U.S. Soldiers

A reporter from the Saudi-owned London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat was invited, along with other reporters, to visit the Green Zone where the U.S. and U.K. Embassies are located, as are Iraq’s central government offices.

The reporter writes that she failed to see a single U.S. soldier in the area, with the exception of two Hummer vehicles accompanying security guards leaving the U.S. Embassy.

The Green Zone is now completely under the control of the Iraqi security forces.
