In Audio Message, Mauritanian AQIM Leader Promises to Adhere to Abu Yahya Al-Libi's Algeria-First Agenda

On July 18, 2009, jihadist websites posted a 14-minute audio recording from a Mauritanian commander in Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Abu Anas 'Abd Al-Rahman Al-Shinqiti, titled "At Your Command, Abu Yahya."

Al-Shinqiti is a member of AQIM's shura council; in a previous release he was also listed as qadi (judge) for the organization's southern region, but in the new release there was no mention of this title.

Uncharacteristically for AQIM, the release consisted solely of the audio file, unaccompanied by a still photo of the speaker, title screen, or video montage...
