Turkish President Abdullah Gul has said that Turkey has failed to offer equal democratic rights to its Kurdish population and recognized the need to take such a step to bring an end to the bloody Kurdish uprising which has listed 25 years.
Gul’s statement came yesterday, on the eve of a tripartite meeting involving Turkey, Iraq, and the U.S. that is scheduled to deal with the security issue and their cooperation against the Kurdish rebels operating under the PKK.
