The London daily Al-Hayat reports on efforts to set a meeting between the Syrian and Iraqi foreign ministers, with the participation of Turkey's foreign minister and the Arab League secretary-general.
The meeting, to be held at the margins of the Arab foreign ministers conference, set for tomorrow, September 9, in Cairo, will be aimed at easing Syria-Iraq tensions.
The paper also reported that hundreds of Iraqis yesterday demonstrated in front of the governor's house in Babil province, south of Baghdad, demanding an international investigatory committee to examine Syria's involvement in the August 19 bombings in Iraq, and calling on the Iraqi government to sever relations with Syria.
