Kuwait Considers Investing in Iraq Reparations It Is Entitled To Receive From Baghdad

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah told the Kuwaiti news agency KANA following his meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani that his country was considering investing in Iraq the reparation it is entitled to receive from Baghdad following Iraq's occupation of Kuwait in 1990.

Currently, Iraq is required to earmark 5% of its oil revenues as reparations to Kuwait. Iraq has already paid Kuwait $1.27 billion (in addition to compensation paid to individuals and companies), and the remaining balance of reparations is $2.25 billion.
