Mahdi Dakhlallah, former Syrian information minister and senior official in the Syrian regime, has been appointed Syrian ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
The appointment reflects the continued warming of Saudi-Syria relations, after Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's surprise visit to Saudi Arabia last week and in light of Saudi King Abdallah's expected visit to Damascus next week.
