Tribal Sheikh: Iraqi Elections will be Tribal

Sheikh Ali Hatem Al-Suleiman, the chief of a tribal group in Iraq's Al-Anbar Province, said that he joined Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki's "State of Law" coalition on two conditions: first, to keep the unity of Iraq, and second, to eschew the return to sectarianism.

He criticized the politicians who have lived in "the trenches of the Green Zone" in the last six years who have lost credibility with the Iraqi voters, and accused many of them of pursuing the policies of sectarianism in the interest of neighboring countries.

He also belittled the role of the politicians who returned to Iraq from exile as bearers of sectarianism, and said that it was the Iraqi tribes who had faced the brunt of Saddam Hussein regime's harsh measures for decades.
