PA Official: Hamas Sabotaging Reconciliation because of Ties with Iran

Hamas political wing deputy head Moussa Abu Marzouq has presented his movement's conditions for signing the Palestinian reconciliation document: canceling the U.S. conditions regarding the Road Map and the principles set out by the International Quartet; a commitment on the part of the Arabs and the international community to recognize Hamas if it wins the elections; lifting the Gaza siege and formulating procedures for opening the Rafah Crossing; and releasing Hamas members incarcerated in Egypt.

Al-Tayyeb 'Abd Al-Rahim, secretary-general of the PA Presidency, said that Hamas was sabotaging the intra-Palestinian reconciliation because of its ties with Iran, and alluded to a statement made some two months ago by the Iranian chief of staff, who said that Iran's support of Hamas was an investment towards improving Iran's status in the region.
