Senior Sudanese presidential advisor Ghazi Salah Al-Din has welcomed what he called the new, positive policy of U.S. President Barack Obama towards Sudan, but expressed regret that Obama used the term "genocide" in reference to the situation in Darfur, and said that Sudan was rejecting U.S. pressures, which expressed arrogance.
Ahmad Hussein Adam, spokesman for the Darfur rebel organization Justice and Equality Movement, said that the U.S.'s method of incentives and pressure was likely to benefit Sudan, but said that he doubted whether the Sudanese government deserved incentives.
