Egyptian PM: There are Conditions For Improving Relations With Syria; Iran Is Undermining Stability

Egyptian sources rejected stories about an upcoming Cairo visit by Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, saying that prior to such a visit Syria must come towards Egypt on many political issues, including advancing the intra-Palestinian reconciliation.

The Kuwaiti daily Al-Siyassa reported that Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit had clarified that the conditions for improving relations with Syria, in addition to the Palestinian issue, were the establishment of a government in Lebanon and Syria's cooperation in the Arab League.

Al-Gheit said that Iran's significant expansion around Arab countries in North Africa and the Horn of Africa, and its activity on Arab lands are some reasons for the instability in the region.

Al-Gheit also expressed his objections to sending Arab forces to Lebanon to implement Resolution 1559.
