In an editorial, the London daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi called U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton a "devil's advocate" because she defended Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and was successful in forcing his position – that negotiations with the Palestinians must begin without a freeze on settlements – on the U.S. administration.
