Iran Initiates Construction of Fence Along Northern Border with Iraq

Iran has begun the construction of a 506-kilometer (316-mile) concrete fence along its border with the province of Kurdistan in northern Iraq, to prevent infiltration from areas that allegedly have U.S. intelligence presence.

The remaining approximately 700 kilometers (438 miles) of the Iraqi-Iranian border will not be affected.
