Saudi liberal women's rights activist Wajeha Al-Huwaidar has declared the launch of a "black bracelet campaign" for equal rights for men and women in the country.
Campaign participants will wear the bracelets to show their support for equal rights for Saudi women.
The background to this campaign is the 19th anniversary of the November 6, 1990 demonstration by 47 women against a fatwa banning women from driving in Saudi Arabia; the women drove cars and were subsequently arrested.
