Writing in the Turkish daily Zaman, Turkish analyst Bolant Kinich said that the visit of a large Turkish delegation to Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) last month, had "accomplished a great success for the Turkish diplomacy, and represented a shift from a possible war toward peace."
He said that the Kurdish authorities prefer cooperation with Turkey over support for the PKK, the Kurdish resistance movement operating against Turkey from bases in the Kurdish mountains.
He added that Turkey is moving toward supporting Kirkuk as an independent province.
