Iraq Calls On UN To Investigate Neighboring Countries, Accuses Syria, KSA of Supporting Al-Qaeda in Iraq

Iraq has asked the UN investigator to carry out his mission in the neighboring countries and to urge them to desist from supporting terrorist acts against it.

Muwafaq al-Rubai'i former national security adviser to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, said that the evidence about the involvement of the neighboring countries in acts of terrorism in Iraq was submitted in the past, resulting in a decline in violence.

He said, however, that terrorism against Iraqis which used to be "random" has become "qualitative."

He said there is evidence that Syrian intelligence officers are providing logistical assistance to al-Qaeda in Iraq while the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is providing the funding as well as the takfiri fatwas [religious edicts designating the opponents as apostates deserving to be killed.]
