Iraqi MP: Al-Maliki's Attack on Saudi Arabia – An Attempt to Distance Iraq from Arab and to Please Iran

Iraqi MP Maysoon Al-Damluji

Maysoon Al-Damluji, Iraqi MP with the faction headed by former prime minister Ayad Allawi, condemned what she termed "the constitutional violations committed by [Iraqi Prime Minister] Nouri Al-Maliki" by exploiting state-owned news channels for propaganda purposes to benefit him and his party.

She told the London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that Al-Maliki's repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia, and on Syria, where he lived for more than a decade while in exile from Iraq, is part of a plan to distance Iraq from its Arab environment and to please Iran, while at the same time ignoring the flagrant Iranian intervention in Iraq's security situation and its plundering of Iraq's natural wealth and water.
