Abbas In Argentina: We Won't Launch New Intifada

The Palestinian news agency Maan reported that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said at a press conference in Argentina yesterday, "The Palestinian people is not thinking to return to the intifada or to launch a new intifada, because it has suffered too much and because the people is thinking only about the path to peace and negotiations, and not about any other way."

Palestinian Authority newspapers did not report Abbas's statements, which contradict recent declarations by Palestinian Authority officials who threatened to return to the intifada and to the armed struggle.
