International Union of Muslim Scholars chairman Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi has said that if he were in the place of Gamal Mubarak, the son of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, he would declare that he was dropping out of the upcoming presidential race.
He added that if Gamal does intend to run, he must do so as a regular candidate in democratic and transparent elections.
Al-Qaradhawi called on the Egyptian elite to act to amend the constitution to enable all Egyptians to run for president in the upcoming election.
