In a speech on the occasion of Police Day in Egypt, President Hosni Mubarak said that the construction work on the Gaza border was a "sovereign matter" which was not in dispute, and that he had reliable information that "one of Egypt's sister-countries" was waging a propaganda campaign against Egypt.
On the subject of the Nag Hammadi massacre, Mubarak said that the chief challenge facing Egypt's security forces was the fight against terror, extremism and sectarian incitement. He warned against the escalation of sectarian tensions in the Arab region, in Africa and in the world at large, and said that Al-Azhar and the church, along with Egypt's education system and media, should work to promote enlightened dialogue and inculcate the principles of citizenship.
