Iraqi MP Jamal Al-Din Praises U.S. Role in Establishing Iraqi Democratic Process

Iraqi MP Sayyed Ayad Jamal Al-Din, who has made a name for himself for his outspoken views regarding the separation of religion from state and for his denunciation of Iranian meddling in Iraqi political life, said yesterday in an interview on Al-Fayhaa TV in Baghdad that the entire Iraqi political process was established by sincere American efforts.

He said that what is happening in Iraq frightens the countries that fear the Iraqi experiment.

He said the United States is a country with institutions; it is not country run by children and teenagers like the Saddam regime or some other Arab countries today. The American policy in Iraq is not frivolous and it is not likely to change overnight, he said.

Other than Syria and Iran, he said, most Arab countries, particularly, the Gulf countries, Jordan and Egypt are countries that are allies of the U.S. It is from these countries that American tanks and airplanes proceeded to topple the Saddam regime. They have provided resources, intelligence and even personnel to support U.S. endeavors. They have a strategic alliance with the U.S. and are unlikely to pursue policies that contradict those of the U.S.

Sayyed Jamal Al-Din asserted that the positions of the Iraqi politicians appear terrified by the United States, which indicates that these are Iranian positions, which is the reason why they raise doubts in America and its friends among Arab countries in the region.
