Hizbullah: Disarming Resistance Not In Lebanon's Interest

Hizbullah deputy secretary-general Na'im Qassem has said that Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations aim to legitimize the Israeli occupation instead of liberating the Palestinian territories.
Speaking at a Hizbullah ceremony in Ba'albeq, Qassem said that the belief that Lebanon's strength lies in its weakness and in diplomatic relations was heresy, adding that this outlook has been replaced with the view that Lebanon's strength is in its resistance, its army, its people and its diplomatic ties.
Efforts are being made to strengthen the resistance and the army, by supplying both with more weapons and recruits, he said, adding that the Lebanese people are being reinforced through consensus building and through preparations to confront Israeli threats.
Hizbullah Minister Muhammad Fneish said that Lebanon should benefit from the resistance and from the army, as well as from diplomatic efforts. He told the NowLebanon news website noted that parties should not focus on the resistance's arms, saying "Whoever discusses disarming the resistance does not want to defend Lebanon."
Fneish called last month's Damascus summit with Hizbullah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a "clear warning to Israel."
