Khaled Tawqan, head of the Jordanian Nuclear Energy Agency, said on the margins of this week's civilian nuclear conference in Paris that Jordan was planning to operate its first civilian nuclear reactor for generating power and desalinating water, near the Gulf of Aqaba, and that it will be completed in 2019.
