At a meeting of leaders of the Palestinian rejectionist fronts in Damascus, Hamas political bureau head Khaled Mash'al declared the launch of a campaign for defending the holy Muslim and Christian sites.
He called on every Palestinian to take concrete steps in the face of the Israeli aggression, and demanded that the Arabs and the Palestinian Authority halt all negotiations with Israel.
PFLP-GC commander Ahmad Jibril called for dismantling the PA and launching a new intifada throughout the PA.
Islamic Jihad secretary-general Ramadan Shelah called for withdrawing the Arab peace initiative.
