Hizbullah Leader Nasrallah Calls For Immediate Implementation Of Death Sentences Against Spies

Hizbullah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah today called for implementing death sentences against spies immediately, praising in this context the stance of Lebanese President Michel Suleiman who expressed readiness to sign any death sentence verdict and noting that spies were direct contributors in all crimes committed during the war.

Nasrallah was speaking via television during a Hizbullah ceremony marking the Day of the Resistance's Wounded in Beirut's southern suburb.

Nasrallah began his speech by reiterating condolences for the death of Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah, saying it had caused a great loss for Lebanon and the nation. He also offered condolences for the Iranian people, leadership and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei over the martyrs who fell in yesterday's suicide bombings, saying that they were executed by terrorist and errant hands run without doubt by U.S. intelligence agencies. He also congratulated Lebanon and the nation in the anniversary of the Divine Victory and the Resistance's achievements in the face of the Zionist criminality as well as in the anniversary of the liberation of captives.

He said, "On the Day of the Wounded, I congratulate the Heroes, Wounded of the Islamic Resistance."
Turning to politics, he said that one of the most important challenges for Lebanon and the Resistance is the espionage issue, adding that this cause deserves more concern and care. He added, "The agents and spies working for the Israeli enemy played a major role before the war because they provided the enemy with a list of targets."

He pointed out that the spies who have been arrested provided information that helped in the attacks against several locations and individuals and they are therefore partners in the killing of innocents. "There are some individuals who presented direct services to the enemy that enabled them to attack locations that were not part of their list of targets," his eminence added. "Following the war, the spies had to refill the target bank of the Israeli enemy after it became empty."

Noting that the spies played a role of seeking sedition following the war, especially in the south between AMAL and Hizbullah, he said: "The spies were required to cause sedition in any place in the country," and that the main target of all the agents' actions was the Resistance. "Several agents admitted that they were required to create disputes that would lead to strife, especially between Shi'ites and Sunnis."

After thanking the security forces and the army intelligence for their efforts in uncovering agents, Nasrallah reiterated that the death penalty should be issued against all those proven to have collaborated with the Israeli enemy.

Nasrallah called on the execution of the death sentences against the spies without further delay or apologies, commending in this context President Michel Suleiman's position in which he affirmed that he would sign any death sentence against agents.
