Saudi Authorities Shut Down Websites For Illicit Fatwas, Extremism

The Saudi Communication and Information Technology Commission yesterday shut down the popular website of Sheikh Muhammad Al-Munajid, where the sheikh had continued to post fatwas despite a recent royal decree stating that all fatwas are to be solely under the authority of the Council of Senior Clerics.

Also shut down was Qadi-net, on which several members were found to be expressing extremist views and criticizing government policy in matters of religion and law.
