The Saudi Communications Ministry has ordered the closure of the Al-Awsra conservative religious satellite television channel, saying that it had violated the conditions of its license.
Shreet.com said that the move came in response to an attack by a director of the channel, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Habadan, on the employment of Saudi women in supermarkets. Al-Habadan violated the royal decree banning anyone not a member of the Senior Clerics Council from issuing fatwas in public matters.
