According to the Egyptian daily Al-Masri Al-Yawm, senior Muslim Brotherhood officials have declared their desire to establish a religious state in Egypt that will implement shari'a law. The daily added that this statement had caused a stir in various political circles, including among the Coalition of the Youth of the Revolution, the Al-Tagammu' party and the Al-Wasat party; it had also caused concern among some of the Muslim Brotherhood youth, who warned against the danger of making such declarations. The report stated that the Coptic Church has decided to suspend its dialogue with the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Muslim Brotherhood's deputy general guide, Dr. Muhammad 'Izzat, denied the report and submitted a complaint against Al-Masri Al-Yawm to the prosecutor general.
