Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad met yesterday, December 2, with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and gave him a letter from Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
During the meeting, Al-Miqdad called Syria-Iran relations strategic and invulnerable.
Referring to reports of disagreement between Syria and Iran following Syria's participation in the Annapolis conference, Assad Aboud, editor of the Syrian government daily Al-Thawra, stated that Syria would continue to choose its own policy in accordance with the interests of the Syrian people, the Arab nation, and regional stability, and that he saw Syria's relations with Iran as a central foundation in its independent policy.
