Iraq's foreign minister Hoshyar Zibari denounced yesterday the shelling of the Kurdish region of Iraq by Iran and Turkey while the U.S. State Department characterized the Turkish attacks by artillery and aircrafts as "self-defense." He said that the violations have lasted for weeks, causing the fleeing of populations and damage to public property.
Demonstrations in Sulaymaniyah, the second most important city in the Kurdistan Regional Government burned the Kurdish flag and demanded the expulsion of the Turkish consul.
Turkey announced that it has killed 100 PKK fighters and that it will continue the campaign against the PKK bases on the Turkish-Kurdish border.
