Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman Javad Iqbal Cheema has announced that following the assassination of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto Pakistani, the Pakistani intelligence apparatus tapped phone conversations between a senior Al-Qaeda official named Bet Allah Mahsoud and another Al-Qaeda operative. He said that in that conversation the names of three Al-Qaeda activists who carried out the assassination were mentioned.
He said that this proved that Al-Qaeda was behind the assassination.
