Egypt Bans Distribution Of Book On Muhammad's Sex Life

The Islamic Research Academy at Al-Azhar University has asked Egyptian security apparatuses to confiscate the book Love and Sex in the Life of the Prophet [Muhammad], and to prevent it from being distributed.

The book was displayed at the recent Cairo book fair.

Academy secretary-general Sheikh Ali Abd Al-Baqi explained that the book harmed the status of the Prophet, bringing him down to the level of the common man, and denigrated the Sunna.

The book's author, Bosnat Rashed, complained that some sheikhs interviewed on television had accused her of heresy and made her killing licit, and that following this she had received death threats.
